Job Title : Patient Support Specialist
Location: Whippany, NJ
Duration:
3-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $19.00/Hour
Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary:

  • The Patient Support Specialist is responsible for helping patients gain access to prescription medications through copay assistance programs. This role provides high-touch, concierge-level support by working directly with patients, physicians, and pharmacies to guide them through eligibility, reimbursement, and program enrolment processes.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, empathy, and experience in healthcare, call center operations, or case management environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients, physicians, and pharmacies regarding medication access and reimbursement support.
  • Assist patients with copay assistance program information, eligibility verification, and claims support.
  • Deliver a positive patient experience with professionalism, empathy, and urgency.
  • Escalate complex issues to internal teams such as Program Management, IT, or Contact Center Operations.
  • Process claims and complete administrative tasks such as mail sorting when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in healthcare support, case management, customer service, or high-volume contact center environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent customer service mindset with empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with pharmacy benefits, healthcare insurance, or medical billing.
  • Knowledge of third-party systems such as SelectRx, Pro-Care, or FSV.
  • Experience using call center software such as Five9, In-Contact, or similar platforms.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
