Patient Services Representative

SUMMARY / DUTIES:
  • The Patient Services Representative II supports Radiology operations as a primary contact for patients and providers
  • Responsibilities include answering high-volume calls, scheduling diagnostic imaging exams, managing work queues, conducting proactive outreach, and helping reduce a backlog of more than 12,000 pending imaging orders
  • The representative greets and checks in patients, verifies demographics, medical history, insurance coverage, and required authorizations, and updates registration information in the EHR
  • Additional duties include responding to patient and provider questions, collecting applicable payments, prioritizing routine and urgent requests, maintaining organized records, and resolving standard scheduling issues
  • This role requires accurate documentation, professional communication, collaboration with Radiology staff, protection of PHI, and compliance with established policies and regulatory requirements.

Note: MUST be legally authorized to work in the United States. 

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience
  • 1+ year of recent patient services or healthcare experience
  • Experience with patient registration, check-in, appointment scheduling, and information verification
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record systems and accurate patient documentation
  • Basic knowledge of insurance policies, patient billing, and authorization requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage high call volumes, competing priorities, interruptions, and deadlines
  • Ability to protect PHI and follow organizational, state, and federal compliance requirements

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience with outpatient radiology or diagnostic imaging services
  • Experience with diagnostic imaging scheduling work queues and referral processing
  • Experience with proactive patient outreach and provider communication
  • Ability to resolve standard scheduling or registration issues using established procedures
  • Experience supporting backlog reduction and referral-to-exam turnaround improvements
