Job Description:

PatientSchedulingSpecialistsareresponsible forindependently creating and scheduling appointmentsin ourgrowing oncology and hematology practice. This position existsto ensureaccurateand complete scheduling forpatients. Scheduling includes butnotlimitedtonew patient visits, infusion/chemotherapy services, radiation therapy services, stat imaging studies, blood transfusions, and other procedures with outside facilities. Scheduling willcommencevia the telephone, in person or electronically, acting as a patient advocate, responsible for the helping with support service needs, and providing applicable informationwithin guidelines of Beacon policies, state & federal laws/ regulations, and business ethics.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordinates, monitors, and schedules patient care at our clinic and across the patients’ care team.
Interprets provider orders, schedules according to the orders, and obtains approval for schedule changes or cancellations asappropriate.
Navigates multiple providers and departments simultaneously and is expected to be available to speak with patients and healthcare professionals forthe majority ofthe day.This requires working with several complex scheduling workflows.
Acts as a liaison for the patient, communicating and problem solving with clinic staff and patients care team to ensure we can provide exceptional care.
Documents complete andaccurateinformation in the electronic medical record whenappropriate.
Operates on computer, phone, and fax systems formajorityof the day.
Aids and acts as back up to other team members from time to time as requested.
Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
Updates job knowledge byparticipatingin educational opportunities; reading professional publications;maintainingpersonal networks;participatingin professional organizations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Understands medical terminology and procedures.

Moderate understanding of computer,phoneand fax systems, EMR or other medical technologies a plus
