GENERAL SUMMARY:
- The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) will provide a safe environment for the patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Tasks include patient observation, assisting with feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulating, engaging in activities that the patient enjoys i.e. reading, playing cards, etc., and companionship.
- The PSA will maintain a commitment to the philosophy, mission, and values of the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS).
- The PSA working the monitor will recognize and report any changes observed to the RN per protocol.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED (for Tele-Sitting only):
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset.
- Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient changes.
- Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Basic computer operation skills.
- Efficiency in multitasking.
- Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Successful completion of BLS Heartsaver during orientation.
