Summary/objective

  • Performs a variety of patient care activities and administrative responsibilities for clinic patients and physicians following established standards and practices.

Essential functions

Professional Expectations

  • Willingness to travel to and provide coverage at different clinical locations based on operational needs.

  • Adhere to professional dress standards.

  • Demonstrate professional, compassionate, and proactive patient interactions, including greeting patients during the rooming process and offering courteous farewell when they depart.

  • Exhibit strong attention to detail when prepping for clinics, entering orders, completing the rooming process, and after visit summaries.

  • Ensure clear, accurate, and timely communication.

  • Manage an efficient, organized clinical flow at all office locations.

  • Manage clinic schedules and communicate in a timely manner any scheduling issues with direct supervisor.

  • Prepare clinic prior to the scheduled date organizing all pertinent information to ensure efficient clinic flow.

  • Enter X-ray orders according to individualized provider protocols.

  • Stock exam rooms before and after clinic to assure all pertinent supplies and forms are available.

  • Complete the clinic rooming process which includes assisting with gathering all pertinent patient information to prepare both the patient and provider for the exam.

  • Assist the provider during the patient exam as requested, which may include dressing changes and suture/staple removal.

  • Enter all patient orders as directed by the provider and fax according to protocol.

  • Schedule patient appointments as needed.

  • Understand interdepartmental workflows and processes to assist with identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Participate in development of protocols, policies, and procedures for Patient Coordinators.

  • Assist in compliance with regulatory agencies (OSHA, Department of Health, DEA, etc.) and appropriate documentation and record keeping as it applies to the Clinical Care Team.

Work Environment

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range

  • Occasionally requires working irregular hours

Physical demands

  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time

Travel required

  • Ability to drive own motor vehicle to various clinic sites as required.

  • Maintains a current driver's license.

  • Travel for this position is required.

Required education and experience

  • Current Unencumbered MN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant Certification (CMA), or associate's degree/diploma in Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant Certification (RMA), or Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT)

  • Science or Healthcare Related Degree from an Accredited College or University

  • Current BLS CPR Certification Required.

  • Knowledge of spine and neurological conditions preferred.

Preferred education and experience

  • Two years' experience in a specialty health care clinic
