This is your chance to build a meaningful healthcare career from the ground up while gaining real, hands-on clinical experience in a supportive, team-driven environment.
What You’ll Do
As a PCT, you’ll be a trusted part of the care team, working alongside nurses and clinical staff to keep patients safe, comfortable, and cared for. Your work will include:
- Providing hands-on direct patient care, including bathing, mobility assistance, and comfort measures
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient information
- Supporting nurses and the care team in delivering high-quality patient-centered care
- Offering compassionate emotional support to patients and families
- Helping maintain a clean, safe, and respectful care environment
- Safely lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Why This Role Matters
PCTs are the heartbeat of the hospital experience. You’ll be the person patients rely on for comfort, communication, and care—while gaining invaluable experience that can launch a long-term career in healthcare.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow, this role is designed to help you build confidence, skills, and opportunity within a leading health system.
What We Offer
- On-the-job training to set you up for success
- Required PCT classes provided through the care center/unit
- Flexible scheduling with day, evening, and night shifts across multiple Deaconess locations

What We’re Looking For
The best PCTs bring more than skills—they bring heart:
- Compassion for patients and families
- Empathy and emotional awareness
- Reliability and strong work ethic
- Clear, respectful communication
- Team-first mindset
- Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment with exposure to medical conditions and typical hospital settings
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Health Care Provider certification within 6 months of hire
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of required PCT training classes for the assigned unit
If you want a career where you’re not just working in healthcare—but actively helping people heal every single day—this is your opportunity to start strong and grow fast.
