The Patient Care Technician on the P8 Inpatient Rehabilitation & Neurology unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a CNA certification and hands-on patient care experience. The candidate must be available to work a combination of two 12 and two 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. The candidate must be available to work either the Day/Evening shift, (7:00am - 7:00pm, 7:00am - 3:00pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm) or the Evening/Night shift, (7:00pm - 7:00am, 11:00pm- 7:00am, 3:00pm - 11:00pm).
The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 32-bed unit and the unit cares for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and in-patient rehab patients. The patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our unit focuses on acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients who require more hands on monitoring the first 24 hours post-surgery. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice, and the team actively participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital-based committees, and local and national conferences. The acute care rehabilitation service helps to safely transition patients to a community setting. Rehabilitation services include bowel and bladder retraining, dysphagia management, tracheostomy and ostomy management, wound care and medication management .

Minimum $18.27 - Midpoint $22.84 - Maximum $27.40
