Responsibilities:
- The Patient Access Services Supervisor's professional responsibility within their scope or practice.
- Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
- Adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality.
- Requires regular and prompt attendance.
- Works the assigned schedule including overtime as required.
- Must be flexible with hours based on staffing needs.
- Assists with the orientation of new employees.
- The Patient Access Services Supervisor's department responsibilities.
- Requires minimal supervision to safely perform essential functions.
- Utilizes proper body mechanics when:
- Moving equipment and or supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions.
- Reports broken or malfunctioning equipment lo supervisor or department head.
- Prepares work schedules maintaining adequate staffing coverage 24hrs/day.
- Supervises an Patient Access staff and coordinates admission/registration functions in all areas of Patient Access
- Performs training of au new employees
- Initiates counseling with employees for positive and negative performance, documenting progressive disciplinary actions when applicable.
- Involved in the policy and procedure process for the department. initiating. Implementing and monitoring au policies and procedures.
- Assist in the interview process for prospective staff.
- Assists management in annual evaluation process and special projects.
- Covers in absence of Associate Manager. Patient Access Services.
- Accepts reservations, obtaining social financial and personal data by interview or telephone.
- Inputs accurate patient information into IS system and follows up for missing data.
- Obtain/scan copies of insurance and patient ID cards.
- Completes au admission/registration, legal, financial and medical forms and obtains requited signatures.
- Distributes and explains state and federally mandated information to patients.
- Follows established downtime procedures.
- Accepts patient's valuables.
- OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Patient Access Services Supervisor Communication Responsibilities:
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families healthcare team and staff in person and via telephone.
- Creates and promotes a positive environment for the department and staff through excellent communication enabling quick and effective resolution
conflict. - Responds to overhead pages
- The Patient Access Services Supervisor documentation responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate quality points and develop education accordingly.
- Work encounters on various assigned reports thoroughly making corrections.
- The Patient Access Services Supervisor citizenship responsibilities:
- Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict.
- Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the department.
- Completes all mandatory unit. educational and hospital requirements.
- Utilizes cost effective practices in performing an aspects of the job.
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years experience in a medical office setting Required
- Hospital admitting experience Preferred
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
