Summary:

Primary responsibility is the accessioning and non-technical processing of pathology specimens, filing of blocks and slides, answering phones, delivering prepared samples to pathologists, inventory replenishment and basic workbench cleaning.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • High school graduate
  • AAS degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) year education, training or experience involving Administrative Assistant/Medical Office courses or experience in hospital Laboratory setting preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to work safely with infectious and/or hazardous materials
  • Present self in a confident and professional manner to all personnel and public
  • Ability to work with various computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work as part of a team within the department and other ancillary areas, including pathologists, coworkers, and other physicians
