Qualifications:- 1+ years current Pathology Assistant experience [required]
- (PA)ASCP required. Equivalent certification not accepted [required]
- MUST be competent in performing FROZEN SECTIONS, GROSSING BIOPSIES AND LARGE COMPLEX SPECIMENS
- Master Degree [Preferred], but will review those with Bachelor Degree
- Traveler must have their own vehicle for this need
- Traveler perm address must be included in profile
Key Responsibilities: - Review patient history at the time of gross examination to ensure accurate specimen handling
- Perform gross examination, dissection, and documentation of surgical specimens
- Capture gross photographs as needed and perform photomicrography for tumor conferences
- Select appropriate tissue for special studies and ancillary testing when required
- Assist with the processing and preparation of frozen section specimens
- Communicate professionally with clinicians regarding specimen clarification when necessary
- Oversee daily operations of the surgical pathology grossing room, including workflow management and support of technical staff
- Ensure proper specimen accessioning, processing, and timely delivery to pathologists
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and ensure all equipment is functioning properly, including basic troubleshooting of instruments such as the cryostat
- Review specimens and designate appropriate tissue/limb disposition in accordance with protocol
Additional Responsibilities:- Adhere to all established SOPs related to specimen collection, labeling, processing, storage, and referral testing
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies
- Stay current with policies, procedures, and continuing education requirements; complete competencies and documentation in a timely manner
- Meet expected turnaround times while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality
- Effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Communicate relevant information clearly with team members, leadership, and stakeholders to support quality patient care
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality in accordance with organizational standards
- Follow all safety guidelines and workplace policies at all times
