Qualifications:
- Masters degree from a NAACLS-accredited PA program.
- ASCP PA certification (or eligibility with certification within 6 months).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or reference lab preferred.
- Familiarity with Epic Beaker LIS and voice dictation systems a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform independent gross examination, dissection, description, evisceration, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical pathology specimens under the general supervision of a pathologist.
- Apply advanced medical knowledge to support accurate diagnosis and patient care through comprehensive specimen evaluation.
- Assist pathologists with complex specimen processing while ensuring adherence to established laboratory protocols and quality standards.
- Coordinate daily workflow to maintain efficient operations and meet turnaround time expectations for patient care.
- Collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory technologists, physicians, and referring facilities to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
- Utilize the Anatomic Pathology Information System (AP LIS), electronic medical records (EMR), and dictation software to accurately document gross findings, report results, and maintain quality assurance data.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Exercise strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload in a high-volume anatomic pathology environment.
