    Now hiring... Pathologist Assistant PRN Status for Munster location

    Position Summary Under the direction of the Physician, the Pathologist Assistant assists in the autopsy and surgical pathology department of the hospital and lab. Performs essential tasks such as examining specimens, dissecting and describing tissue, preparing tissue for microscopic examination, managing lab workflows, etc.

    Education/Experience

    • Masters Degree from a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Pathologists Assistant program is required.
    • Board certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
    • Complete ongoing CME requirements to maintain active ASCP certification.

    Requirements

    • Proficiency in laboratory procedures, dissection, and operation of specialized medical equipment.
    • Strong abilities in record-keeping, specimen management, and maintaining a clean and organized area.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone technique to communicate with Physicians and other healthcare personnel.
    • Maintain concise, timely, and accurate confidential records of patients.
    • Capacity to make informed decisions and problem solve in high-pressure environments.
    • Great time management and organizational skills.
    • High level of accuracy, precision, and attention to detail to ensure proper specimen handling and reporting.
