A nationally respected law firm is seeking a Patent Transactions Attorney with 3–8 years of experience to join its expanding Intellectual Property and Corporate Transactions practice. This role is ideal for attorneys who enjoy advising sophisticated clients on high‑value patent acquisitions, licensing agreements, intellectual property monetization, and IP‑driven corporate transactions.

Key Responsibilities
- Structure, negotiate, and close patent acquisitions, licensing agreements, and intellectual property transactions.
- Advise clients on patent portfolio strategy, commercialization, licensing, and monetization.
- Provide IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, financing transactions, and strategic investments.
- Draft and negotiate sophisticated commercial agreements involving intellectual property assets.
- Counsel financial services and corporate clients on intellectual property risks and transaction strategy.
- Partner with corporate, finance, tax, and litigation teams on complex, multi‑disciplinary transactions.
- Support clients throughout acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Identify legal risks and develop practical, business‑focused solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active North Carolina Bar license or eligibility for admission.
- 3–8 years of transactional legal experience.
- Significant experience handling patent transactions, licensing, or IP‑focused corporate deals.
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions involving intellectual property assets.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and client counseling skills.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property strategy within corporate and financial transactions.
- Ability to independently manage sophisticated matters while collaborating across practice groups.
- Strong business judgment and client service mindset.
Preferred:
- Graduate of a Top 50 U.S. law school.
- Top 50% academic performance preferred.
- Experience practicing at an Am Law 200 firm.
- Experience representing financial services clients.
- Background advising on complex cross‑border or large‑scale commercial transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high‑value matters simultaneously.
