This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys analyzing new technologies, working cross‑functionally, and developing expertise in patents and intellectual property.What You'll DoPartner with engineering teams to identify new inventions and innovationsEvaluate ideas to determine whether they are suitable for patent protectionConduct patent searches and review existing technologiesSupport internal review committees that assess invention disclosuresCoordinate with external patent counsel to prepare and file patent applicationsReview technical documents and ensure accuracy for patent filingsTrack and manage early stages of the patent application processRequirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)3–8+ years of relevant experience in engineering or related fieldStrong analytical and written communication skillsAbility to understand and explain technical concepts clearlyPreferredWorking knowledge of patents, intellectual property, or innovation processesExperience working with cross‑functional teams (engineering + legal is a plus)Familiarity with HVAC, industrial, or mechanical systemsInterest in pursuing a career in intellectual propertyKey Traits for SuccessCurious about how things workComfortable with detailed reading and writingInterested in the intersection of engineering and lawAble to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholdersLocationThis role is based in Sidney, OH or St. Louis, MO with a hybrid work arrangement.
