Job Description

Alabama State University, Academic Affairs, invites applications to fill the position of Partner Coordinator for GEAR UP Programs. This is a professional student-support position responsible for managing the delivery and implementation of core interventions and services, for students and their families, as outlined in annual school-specific GEAR UP work plans and budgets. The partner coordinator will execute the plans and develop the types of trusting relationships with students and families that have been shown to foster student success. The position may include some supervisory responsibilities. In conjunction with administrators, and the GEAR UP Team, the GEAR UP Partner Coordinator works to ensure that the terms specified in the partner subcontracts are met.

Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work with the PI and Director to provide highly specialized services on GEAR UP partnerships.

Program Implementation

  • Manage and provide for comprehensive college access and success services and programs for middle and high school students, including academic planning and preparation, career exploration, tutoring, mentoring, college visits, financial planning, school year and summer enrichment activities, annual orientation events, and college application
  • Maintain relationships with program partners and analyze data to assess performance of program partnerships
  • Meet productivity standards and drive continuous improvement
  • Use associated systems to coordinate partnerships
  • Use data from partnerships to evaluate performance and quality and plan improvements
  • Develop and implement new partnerships

Financial Management-

  • Work with the GEAR UP director to help plan a budget for designated
  • Identify and collect the in-kind match data collection as outlined as part of the requirements Program Evaluation and Reporting
  • Responsible for the preparation of required grant-related reports focused on program implementation Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with local and/or national organizations to expand services for students
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with post-secondary institutions to provide students with post-secondary exposure and experiences to support the transition from high school to college.
  • Identify and facilitate professional development opportunities for academic coaches and other grant related staff

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in education, human resources, counseling, business or related field

Five years experience with GEAR UP and/or managing federal grants.

Knowledge of postsecondary education options, application procedures and admission requirements

Strong ability to communicate with students, parents and school staff verbally and in writing

Excellent program coordination skills, including demonstrated record of completing tasks on time and within budget
