Position Summary

The Study Coordinator provides leadership for the operational, administrative, and regulatory management of federally funded behavioral and clinical research studies. Working closely with the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators, the Study Coordinator oversees study implementation, supervises research personnel, ensures regulatory compliance, manages project timelines and budgets, and supports dissemination of research findings.

Duties and Responsibilities

Study Leadership & Participant Engagement

• Coordinate the daily operations of the research study.
• Develop and implement participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies.
• Oversee participant recruitment, scheduling, retention, and completion of study activities.
• Oversee participant compensation activities and ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements.
• Support community engagement and incorporate feedback from consultants including parent advisory council to inform research procedures.

Study Implementation & Data Collection

• Direct implementation of study protocols, including surveys, interviews, EMA, and family interaction procedures.
• Oversee development and management of electronic surveys, EMA programming, study databases, and participant tracking systems.
• Supervise preparation and distribution of study materials.
• Conduct virtual study visits and ensure protocol fidelity.

Personnel Management

• Train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate research staff and student personnel.
• Conduct regular research team meetings and provide ongoing training.

Data Management & Quality Assurance

• Oversee study data collection, coding, quality assurance, storage, security, reproducibility, and documentation.
• Monitor study operations and implement quality control procedures.

Regulatory & Administrative Oversight

• Oversee informed consent and assent procedures.
• Prepare and submit IRB applications, amendments, continuing reviews, adverse event reports, and other regulatory documents.
• Develop and maintain study documentation, SOPs, and regulatory files.
• Manage project timelines, monitor deliverables, and communicate study progress with investigators.

Research Dissemination & Communication

• Coordinate preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, grant reports, and presentations.
• Support dissemination of research findings through conferences, publications, and community engagement.
• Oversee development and maintenance of the study website to ensure timely, accurate, and accessible study information.

Other Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, psychology, health sciences, social work, or another health-related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience coordinating clinical, behavioral, community-based, or federally funded research studies.

• Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience coordinating clinical, behavioral, community-based, or federally funded research studies.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple research activities, including participant recruitment, enrollment, retention, data collection, and study implementation.
• Experience supervising, training, mentoring, or providing day-to-day direction to research staff, students, or project personnel.
• Demonstrated knowledge of human subjects research regulations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, informed consent procedures, and research ethics.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support participant activities and community engagement events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in nursing (BSN, MSN, DNP, PhD or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience working with individuals and families living with spina bifida or other chronic health or complex care condition.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, psychology, health sciences, social work, or another health-related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Computer Skills

Competency in Office applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
