Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is currently accepting applications for Part-Time Business Instructors specializing in Sports Management. This position is ideal for a knowledgeable and passionate educator with expertise in both traditional sports management and the rapidly growing field of esports. The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction while contributing to the continued development of innovative curriculum that reflects current trends in the sports industry. Successful candidates will teach primarily on-campus Business (BMG) credit courses for the upcoming Fall 2025 semester.

Needs may become available each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for teaching opportunities on a per course basis. Courses may be taught online or on-campus.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain environment conducive to student learning.
- Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) using appropriate learning experiences and materials which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals.
- Adhere to course syllabus and comply with Assessment of Student Academic Achievement.
- Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluation, written examinations, and overall observation.
- Grade assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion.
- Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed.
- Participate in professional activities, which could include, but are not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities.
- Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
- Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
- Develop instructional materials that align with industry standards and program learning outcomes. Incorporate real-world examples, industry frameworks, and current market trends into course content.
- Stay informed on current industry trends and developments in both professional sports and esports, including league structures, digital platforms, revenue models, fan engagement strategies, and organizational operations.
- Utilize learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and relevant industry-specific software or tools, including digital content platforms, data analytics, and streaming technologies to support student learning and provide professional environments.
- Maintain professional knowledge in Business Sports Management, including topics such as sports marketing, event and facility management, sponsorship and branding, esports business operations, and legal/ethical considerations in both traditional sports and esports settings.
- Collaborate with faculty to create opportunities for experiential learning such as simulations, case studies, virtual and in-person events, and interactions with professionals in the sports and esports industries.
- Evaluate student learning through a variety of assessments, including presentations, projects, and business plans. Provide timely and constructive feedback to support academic and professional development.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Mentor students with an interest in pursuing careers in the sports and esports industries, helping them understand career pathways and skillsets required for success.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to sports business, esports management, teaching methodologies, and instructional technology.
- Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other responsibilities. Use such technologies in a manner consistent with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule: Schedules vary according to class schedules. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master's degree in sports management, business administration, entertainment management, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's degree may be considered with substantial professional experience.
- Two (2) years related work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including the capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI-supported tools. Ability to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI-generated content; maintain confidentiality where required; exercise professional and academic judgment; and uphold ethical standards in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and service.
