Description
The Shop Associate serves as a resource to customers' inquiries and questions relating to Girl Scoutsmerchandise. They are responsible for supporting the member and responding in a timely manner within guidelines established by the council. They will practice the highest standards of customer care; build good will for Girl Scouts Heart of Central California; and promote the Girl Scout experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide service to the council by supplying merchandise and assistance to the membership and staff
Use point-of-sale cash register to sell merchandise
Use point-of-sale system to check-in merchandise, maintain inventory and make other adjustments
Engages in problem-solving and provides solutions
Manages and responds appropriately to all walk-in customers
Price merchandise according to set guidelines
Have or acquire knowledge regarding official uniforms and insignia and Girl Scout Program
Assist in maintaining an attractive, well-stocked and organized shop
Participate in special program events to serve girl and adult membership and to generate income
Absorb or perform other duties as assigned

Minimum one year business or retail experience
Must have a high level of interpersonal and customer service skills
Must have prior experience supervising others in a retail environment

Accurate money handling skills
Excellent punctuality and attendance
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Girl Scouting desirable
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and a customer relationship management system such as Salesforce.
Willingness to learn and use our Girl Scouts volunteer system
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
Demonstrate a commitment to recognize and respect the many forms of diversity
Demonstrate a willingness to embrace the Girl Scouts mission, goals, values and council-driven programs
Valid California driver's license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance
Available for council-required events (ie. Mega Drop)
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and/or move cartons weighing up to 30 lbs.
Able to stand up to two hours assisting customers
Work Hour/Travel
Willing and able to work adjusted schedule, including weekends and evenings, as necessary
Hours covered Fridays from 10am - 5pm and Saturdays from 10am - 3pm
