JOB SUMMARY
The Recreation Specialist - Events & Operations is a part-time position responsible for supporting the planning, development, implementation, marketing, coordination, setup, execution, and breakdown of City-sponsored special events and recreation programs. This position plays a key operational role in ensuring the successful delivery of community events and recreation center operations through field operations, logistics, public engagement, sponsorship support, and enforcement of policies and procedures. Responsibilities include operational support, program oversight, participant and customer service support, maintaining participation and revenue records, assisting with budget implementation, and supporting daily recreation center operations as assigned.
In addition to special event responsibilities, this position supports the daily operations of the C.K. Ray Recreation Center by assisting with customer service, facility supervision, program support, front desk operations, and general recreation center functions as needed to support departmental operations and maintain scheduled part-time hours throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred, Minimum 30 hours of continuing education; preferably recreation, education, or human services required. Minimum 1 year of experience planning and implementing recreational activities
Special Requirements:
Current Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED certification or be able to obtain within one (1) month of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, fingering, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
