# About Us

# Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

# Job Summary

Faculty members in the Department of Health and Human Performance are expected to teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses when academic background supports both tracks. Only faculty with advanced preparation toward the doctoral degree, or doctorally prepared, are expected to teach in the graduate level. The responsibilities of the faculty are to develop a healthy and caring environment that offers a variety of opportunities for active participation by the students in the learning process. Major responsibilities of faculty include teaching, tutoring, and professional development. All graduate and undergraduate faculty are responsible to the Department Chair related to the course planning and evaluation, student advisement, the registration process and other departmental and interdepartmental service and scholarly functions.

Faculty course loads include not more than 12 semester hours of coursework. This consists of no more than 9 classroom contact hours and no more than 16 clinical/field contact hours per week. Each term faculty are required to post daily office hours available for student advisement. Faculty are assigned committee leadership tasks within the College and University. In addition to teaching and service commitments, faculty are expected to engage in scholarly endeavors, i.e. research-related activities, clinical practice, and/or writing for publication in referenced journals. Annual faculty evaluations consist of self-assessment goals, supervisory evaluations and student evaluations. This activity is directed by the Dean of the School and the Department Chair in the spring of each year. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

# Responsibilities

The following are the expectations of the faculty which include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and teach course content in a logical sequence: plan and prepare course content and curriculum, utilizing assessment and effective methodologies of instruction for the enhancement of learning.
  • Evaluate students in classrooms and clinical settings, using designated criteria.
  • Participate in curricula development and evaluation.
  • Engages in scholarly activities including research and publishing.
  • Participate on assigned Department/College/University committees.
  • Maintain expertise in the field of study and teaching pedagogy by attending seminars, workshops, and classes for self-improvement and/or professional enhancement.
  • Maintain active participation in professional organizations as appropriate.
  • Participate in enrollment management activities and sharing professional expertise with colleagues and students beyond the classroom.
  • Provide support and in some cases provide the leadership for student recruitment, marketing, and in general activities that build a program within the clinical setting.
  • Support student activities, include course and career guidance to students, mentor, graduation, and foster a love of learning.
  • Assist in the development of the departmental course schedule.
  • Giving required forms and papers to Registrars Office within the specified timeframe.
  • Maintain appropriate records of student performance.
  • Demonstrate procedures in nursing skills laboratory, supervise student demonstrations and evaluate student performances.
  • Integrate theory with planned clinical performance.
  • Orientate students to the clinical site and communicate clinical objectives to the student and the staff.

# Required Qualifications

  • Certified K-12 to teach in the state of Georgia.
  • Minimum of masters or higher degree in area of Health and Physical Education with three years of experience.
  • Experience with Edcation Accreditation process.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Experience with presenting information to both small and large groups.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation preferred.
