The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking part-time instructor(s) to teach 4-credit section(s) of beginning and/or intermediate Spanish in the fall 2026 semester, which begins August 24, 2026 (appointment begins on August 17, 2026). Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.
Spanish I (SPA 101) 4 credits: Introductory proficiency-based course which prepares students to understand, speak, read, and write in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Spanish.
Spanish II (SPA 102) 4 credits: Continuing proficiency-based course which develops communicative abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Spanish.
Spanish III (SPA 201) 4 credits: Continuing proficiency-based course which refines and expands previously acquired linguistic skills in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Spanish.
Spanish IV (SPA 202) 4 credits: Continuing proficiency-based course which focuses on reading, discussing, and analyzing authentic texts as a basis for the expression and interpretation of meaning. Conducted in Spanish.
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All positions and offers are subject to funding availability and enrollment.
