This is a part-time non-benefited position. Part-time faculty are eligible for 25 NWCCD tuition discount for the employee during the semester teaching.

Typical Work Schedule: This is an ONGOING recruitment. This IS NOT a remote position. Our adjunct faculty application is open to all disciplines. We accept part-time faculty applications all year long when a department or division has a need to fill they refer to the pool" of part-time faculty applications on file. Although we may not have an immediate opening we practice ongoing recruitment to attract exceptional faculty who have experience successfully teaching both in the classroom and online. We also plan to expand our course offerings at a growing number of partner campuses. We are actively recruiting exceptional faculty to teach in many disciplines

Job Summary
A CMV Driver Training Faculty member plays a crucial role in educating and training students seeking to gain commercial driver licensure. Education Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required Associate or bachelors degree in a related field preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Collaborate with departmental colleagues to enhance course content, lesson plans, and instructional resources to integrate new technologies and to update curriculum to reflect advancements in the field and assessment of student learning objectives SLOs. Ensure that teaching methods and materials are relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards, federal, and state regulations, CDL examination criteria, and program goals. Deliver engaging and interactive lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions to students in various aspects of theory and driving skill development and best practices. Emphasize and enforce safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and best practices in vehicle operation and transportation logistics. Ensure students understand and adhere to state and federal regulations governing CDL requirements, vehicle inspections, and driving standards. Evaluate students understanding and mastery through assignments, quizzes, and practical assessments. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on their learning progress, skill development, and areas for improvement in preparation for CDL certification. Offer guidance and support to students regarding academic and career development. Assist students in understanding licensing requirements, job opportunities, and career pathways within the transportation and logistics industry. Assist students in understanding and applying theoretical knowledge in practical driving responsibilities and real-world scenarios. Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes relevant to the commercial driving industry. Collaborate with industry partners and professional associations to enhance student training and employment opportunities. Maintain CDL training vehicles and equipment in safe and operational condition. Coordinate with facilities management to ensure training areas meet safety standards and provide optimal learning environments for students. Stay informed about industry developments, changes in CDL regulations, and advancements in transportation technology. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and training to enhance teaching effectiveness and maintain CDL instructor certification. Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum, and faculty development initiatives, and accreditation processes as requested.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements:
Must possess physical ability to perform the duties of a licensed commercial driver. Vision, close distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 60 pounds. Must possess physical ability to perform the typical duties of a commercial driver, kneeling, crouching, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing ladders. May need to operate materials handling equipment. May work in environments with moderate or loud noise. Must be available to meet course training schedule. Schedule may include day, evening, fully online, hybrid, partially online, and/or weekend courses. Part-time faculty meetings are conducted the week prior to the semester start. Course outlines of record, student learning outcomes to be assessed, and department policies will be provided or reviewed. May include part-time temporary hourly assignments on an as-needed basis.
