The School of Architecture seeks a part-time instructor to teach a 3-credit course on professional practice during the Fall (M/W, 2:15-3:35p; 3:45-5:05) and Spring (TBD) semesters. The course is a requirement for undergraduate and graduate students in their final year.

The expected salary range for this position is $7,500 - $9,000 for this 3-credit hour course. Qualifications

  • Candidates must have extensive professional architectural design practice experience and a record of recognized built work.
  • Candidates with strong intellectual and creative direction, in pursuit of innovative and progressive models of professional practice are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must be prepared to teach required content such as firm legal structure, business development, branding and identity, financial management, fee structure, contracts, project management and delivery, ethics, etc.
  • The School is particularly interested in candidates with teaching experience in an accredited professional architecture degree program.

Responsibilities

Those of a part-time faculty member with a teaching load of 3-credits including:

  • Developing a syllabus for ARC 585 that incorporates topics including, but not limited to, architect-client relations, legal and financial aspects of practice, business planning and ethics, project delivery and contracts, professional services, etc.
  • Preparation of lectures, projects, or other assignments
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours
  • Meeting all designated class periods
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course
  • Submitting final grades according to university regulations
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner
  • Building a positive rapport with students
