The School of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach AIC 340/640 Visiting Artist Lecture Series, a one credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026, and the Spring Semester, 2027.
Contemporary artists and art educators with significant national and international exhibition and publishing records talk about their work and its development, including art-historical and other inter-disciplinary connections. Additional work required of graduate students.

Qualifications
- MFA in art or a related field. At least 1 year of teaching experience at the college level required.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Must be able to operate standard computer/projection systems.
- Must be good at working with others.
- Able to assess written student work.
- Must be very organized.
Responsibilities
- Work with School of Art faculty to fill the fall and spring calendar with visiting artists every week, using School of Art procedures.
- Communicate with the visiting artists about the required paperwork and class speaking details.
- Promote the visiting artists through email and social media.
- Work with the visiting artists when they come to class, and potentially bring them to studio visits with students on occasion.
- Assign and grade written student work and attendance.
- Work with the faculty member who teaches the first-year students who are in AIC 101 but also attend the visiting artist lectures.
In addition:
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
