Job Summary
The Coeur dAlene Police Department is seeking a part-time Crime Prevention Officer. This position is 19.5 hours per week or less and may include evening and weekend hours.
The Crime Prevention Officer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of crime prevention, safety, and community relations programs for the Police Department and will also focus on using all forms of media to disseminate information, engage the public, and promote crime prevention measures. This employee will interface with the media, Police and/or City public information officers, and executive City staff regarding crime prevention programs and other City crime-related issues. This person will also act as a liaison between the Police Department and the community on crime-related issues and serves as an information resource to citizens and the general public. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or G.E.D; and one (1) year of experience in a law enforcement environment or the judicial process is preferred.

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate tools used in performing the essential functions of the classification, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person, by telephone. While performing the duties of this classification, the employee works in an office setting where noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
