Job Title: Part-Time Clinical, Lab, or Simulation Faculty - School of Nursing Job Description Summary:

Part-Time Faculty provide direct instruction and supervision of students in the BSN or MSN programs. They possess a significant knowledge base in their specialty area (Pediatrics, Psych/Mental Health, Obstetrics Mother/Baby, Medical/Surgical, and/or Community Health) and bring a wealth of experience, as well as awareness of current practice issues and trends.

  • Complete all related teaching responsibilities such as enforcing attendance policies, teaching students to apply what they are learning in class in the clinical environment, evaluating student clinical performance, completing clinical site evaluations, etc.
  • Participate in routine meetings with the Faculty of Record (FOR) to review the syllabus and course expectations.
  • Manage clinical, lab, or simulation instructional settings and environments through active instructor presence to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities by following all SON policies and procedures, attending SON and course orientation, meeting with the course faculty of record as needed, and completing clinical site orientation requirements when necessary.
  • Academically coach, guide, mentor, monitor progress, and empower students to achieve optimum success.
  • Provide students with academic support and offer referrals for additional assistance as required, tutor if necessary, and provide other assistance as needed.

We interview and hire throughout the academic year. The expected hire date is based on the first date you would be working in the clinical or lab setting and this date will vary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in nursing or related/relevant field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent RN experience required.
  • Previous experience as a clinical instructor preferred.
  • Current, active, unrestricted license as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan required.
  • Clean criminal background check and urine drug screen required.
  • Must be able to meet all health requirements and training requirements as stipulated by the clinical agencies.
