Job Summary

The Bell/Valet Attendant is responsible for creating an exceptional first and last impression for every guest by providing professional valet parking, bell services, and personalized guest assistance in accordance with Forbes Standards of Excellence. This role welcomes guests upon arrival, safely parks and retrieves guest vehicles, assists with luggage, escorts guests to and from their accommodations, and provides knowledgeable information about the property, amenities, and local attractions. The Bell/Valet Attendant works collaboratively with all departments to deliver seamless, personalized service while ensuring guest comfort, safety, and satisfaction throughout their stay.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Greet and welcome all guests with a warm, professional, and courteous demeanor.
  • Create a memorable first and last impression by providing exceptional customer service throughout each guest interaction.
  • Safely drive, park, and retrieve guest vehicles in a timely manner while following all traffic laws and company safety standards.
  • Open vehicle and hotel doors and assist guests entering and exiting vehicles.
  • Unload, transport, and load guest luggage upon arrival and departure using proper luggage handling techniques.
  • Escort guests to their accommodations while providing an orientation of the guest room, hotel amenities, services, and property features.
  • Assist guests with parking, transportation requests, luggage storage, and other special requests.
  • Answer guest questions regarding hotel amenities, local attractions, dining, transportation, and resort activities.
  • Collect, label, secure, and return vehicle keys accurately while maintaining proper documentation.
  • Maintain organized records related to valet transactions and guest vehicles.
  • Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic in designated areas to ensure guest safety and efficient traffic flow.
  • Monitor valet parking areas to ensure vehicles are parked safely and securely.
  • Remain knowledgeable of daily hotel operations, events, group arrivals, VIP guests, and special requests.
  • Assist Front Desk with guest arrivals, departures, check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries as needed.
  • Answer guest and internal phone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Assist Housekeeping, Beach Service, and other departments when operational needs require.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby, porte cochere, valet stand, bell closet, luggage storage areas, and departmental equipment.
  • Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding guest information and activities.
  • Follow all hotel safety, security, and Forbes Standards of Excellence.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English preferred
  • Valid driver's license (preferred)
  • Previous experience as a bell person preferred

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent walking, running, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull luggage, carts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent entry into and exit from guest vehicles.
  • Ability to safely operate a wide variety of vehicles.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
