Job Summary/Basic Function

About the position:

Assist the Head Women's Volleyball Coach with the daily operations of conducting a successful volleyball program, including the monitoring, and ensuring the academic success of student-athletes. Contract renewed on an annual basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the application and compliance of intercollegiate rules, regulations and University policies as the apply to student-athletes and staff.
  • Assist in the development and execution of pre-season, in-season and spring season team training.
  • Assist in the tracking and recruitment of academically and athletically quality Prospective Student Athletes.
  • Assist Head Coach in the planning and execution of skills development for student-athletes.
  • Assist Head Coach in preparation and execution of all scheduled home competitions.
  • Inform student-athletes of academic and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.
  • Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.
  • Cooperate with the University physicians and Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
  • Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
  • Attend all team practices and home and away contests.
  • Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement team, athletic department, and University measures to support their academic performance.
  • Assume responsibility to student-athlete compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Assist the Head Coach and the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in resolving cases where a student-athlete violates an applicable regulation.
  • Work with internal and external groups to see team support and assist with Alumni engagement
  • Ensure student-athletes participation in NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills programs.
  • Assist the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in fund-raising activities in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements for non-faculty coaches.
  • Submit yearly work schedules to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and comply with Schedule once approved.
  • Attend appropriate Athletic departmental staff meetings and complete all assigned NCAA training modules.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful experience coaching women's volleyball at the college, club and/or high school level OR successful experience playing volleyball at the college level.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience recruiting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic/athletic excellence.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to work effectively with student-athletes of diverse races and cultures.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules.
  • Experience in:
  • DII Recruiting.
  • Fundraising.
  • PSAC coaching or playing experience.
