Anticipated hiring range: $62,400 to $74,880 Full Salary Range: $62,400 to $87,360 Annually, depending on qualifications; Competitive Leave and Benefits package 40 hour work week |
The Program Coordinator-Summer Supervisor performs skilled administrative work supporting the daily operations of the Parks & Recreation department. This role plans, organizes, and administers seasonal recreation programs for residents of all ages. Often described as the department’s “Creator of Fun,” this position plays a key role in delivering engaging, safe, and well-run programs for the Hopkinton community, while exercising tact, discretion, and flexibility in day-to-day responsibilities.
This role supervises seasonal summer staff, including playground and beach operations, and leads staff orientation and training. The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for the public, managing program enrollment, responding to inquiries, and communicating with participants and families.
The position also coordinates programs and events with schools, vendors, and community partners, supports program promotion through social media and the department website, and oversees program logistics including supplies, equipment, and site preparation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Health or Business Administration or a closely related educational field and two (2) to three (3) years of experience in the coordination of recreational facilities, programs, or similar experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Licensing/Certifications:
Possession of a valid U.S. Driver’s License
Possession of Red Cross CPR and first aid certification (or ability to obtain and maintain such certifications within one year of hire.)
Certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
