Under general supervision, the Parks Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks to construct and maintain parks, forests, trails and/or cemeteries for the City of Caon City. Range of duties include: Performs grounds maintenance, landscaping, and tree maintenance tasks in city parks, cemetery, and rights-of-way. Picks up litter, removes trash, rakes leaves, clears brush, operates irrigation systems, and mows grass. Inspects and samples trees, plants, and grass for insect or disease problems. Applies herbicides and pesticides to control weeds and insects. Performs rough carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks to install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems. Cleans, repairs, and maintains public buildings, facilities, parks, public restrooms, campgrounds, recreational facilities, and cemetery. Operates equipment such as trimmers, mowers, sprayers, power rakes, aerators, snow plows, trash compactors, dump trucks, loaders, trenchers, chippers, and chain saws to improve, maintain, and repair parks, trails, and/or cemeteries and to plant, prune, or remove tree NOTE: This job announcement is not intended to include a complete listing of all requirements associated with the position.
