About this Job

The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.

This position is located at South Toledo Bend State Park in Anacoco, LA. The purpose of this position is to perform groundskeeping and custodial duties to help maintain cleanliness and a safe environment for the customers. This includes all rental facilities and grounds, including trails, bathhouses, etc. This position will also assist in the front office, such as checking in guests, handling forms of payment, assisting customers, and completing office paperwork.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Maintain grounds and landscaping throughout the park, to include but not limited to, mowing, weed-eating, blowing, trimming branches, clearing and maintaining trails, etc.
  • Ensure trash and litter is cleaned up and contained throughout the park.
  • Assist with cleanliness of the buildings on site such as cabins, bathhouses, meeting rooms, etc. Duties would include but not limited to, folding linens, cleaning bathrooms, pressure washing exterior, mopping or sweeping, etc.
  • Assist with the entrance station duties as needed. This includes checking in guests for reservations or day use, taking payments, assisting with questions, issuing parking tags, etc.

Position-Specific Details:

Location: South Toledo Bend State Park in Anacoco, LA

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Park Technician A, B, or C. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Work Schedule: State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.

Travel: Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events, as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
