Overview:
Job Title: Park Ranger Unit Administrative Assistant
Objective Provides administrative and office support to Park Ranger Unit Supervisor and Ranger Unit for daily operations, payroll, special projects, assignments, and emergencies.
Place of Work: Office of Parks and Recreation, 1030 River Road, Piscataway NJ
Hours Needed: Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 4:15 pm
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, planning and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to work under pressure
- Must be comfortable with using technology and learning new programs and processes including payroll and reservations software
- Must be skilled with the Microsoft Office Suite - especially OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL, PUBLISHER, and TEAMS
Duties:
- Office support and administrative duties including general correspondence, memos and directives
- Provide general support to public via phone, email or in person
- Maintains inventory and ordering – office supplies, first aid supplies for Ranger Vehicles, Unit issued equipment (PR-24, pepper spray, summons book, badges, etc.)
- Prepares semi-monthly payroll and bi-weekly overtime. Must learn Workforce Management (payroll software) and develop strong working knowledge of Park Ranger Union Contract
- Responsible for maintenance of Ranger Unit records
- Responsible for shift scheduling and organizes and schedules special details
- Manage hiring process for County Park Ranger candidates
- Preparation of Special Event invoices
- Provides organization support for Deer Management Program
- Oversight of Ranger Unit Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Program
Responsible to: Park Ranger Unit Supervisor
Compensation: $45,000-$50,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
