Primary Purpose:
Provides parent education, developmental information and family support to parents through personal home visits to promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten. Parent Educators utilize the nationally recognized "Parents as Teachers" curriculum to deliver quality home based early childhood education, developmentally age appropriate resources and effective child -parent interaction techniques. This position is partially/fully paid with federal funds.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Spanish speaking preferred
Experience:
Experience working with children
