What You'll Do

As a UPMC Paramedic, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality emergency care in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing basic and advanced life support in pre-hospital and emergency settings • Communicating effectively with Medical Command and interdisciplinary care teams • Performing emergency assessments, diagnostics, and treatments • Supporting the education and development of student paramedics • Participating in community education and outreach initiatives • Ensuring readiness through proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles • Accurately documenting patient care while maintaining confidentiality • Promoting safety, wellness, and professionalism for patients and colleagues

This position requires operating a company fleet vehicle. As part of the hiring process, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR check will be conducted. Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of experience in EMS (Advanced Life Support level is preferred)
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different base sites as needed
  • Must be eligible for Medical Command authorization from the Medical Director
  • Completion of UPMC's orientation program, including classroom training
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment

Licenses & Certifications

  • Required:
  • Certified Paramedic in Pennsylvania
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC or Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVDEMSVO Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS or CPR Certification
