New Mexico Military Institute Employment Opportunity Paramedic (Part-Time ) About New Mexico Military Institute: The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state -supported, co -educational in stitution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (R OTC) programs. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four -year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6 -8. The IPA delivers a distinctive curriculum that emphasizes immersive, intensive, and hands -on learning in a structured environment. Position : The Paramedic works variable hours, including weekends and on -call shifts as needed . Must provide high -quality emergency and non -emergency medical care to cadets, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus. The Paramedic will report directly to the NMMI Director of Nursing and is responsible for performing all duties within the scope of a li censed Paramedic in the state of New Mexico, with a special emphasis on advanced airway management and emergency response. This is a non-exempt, 10-month, part -time position, not to exceed 29 hours per week. Hourly rate will be determined based on certific ation and experience . The job description is available upon request. Task s: Provide immediate assessment and treatment of ill or injured individuals on campus. Perform advanced airway management, including endotracheal intubation, supraglottic airway insertion, and bag -valve -mask ventilation as clinically indicated. Administer medications, perform IV/IO access, and utilize cardiac monitoring in accordance with New Mexico EMS protocols and standing orders from the Medical Director. Maintain readiness of al l emergency medical equipment and supplies, including airway adjuncts and advanced life support (ALS) kits. Other duties as assigned Essential Skills: Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and cardiology to recognize and manage life -threat ening conditions. Ability to rapidly and accurately assess a patient's condition is paramount. This involves taking a medical history, performing a physical exam, and interpreting vital signs to determine the nature and severity of an illness or injury. Knowledge in a wide array of emergency medical procedures and the protocols that guide them. This includes trauma management, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS). Knowledge to treat a variety of conditions, from h eart attacks to allergic reactions, often in uncontrolled environments.
