Help

  • Serves as the primary post-trial paralegal process subject matter expert for 1SFC(A), USASOC, and SWCS.
  • Provides support to Military Justice Operations Paralegal and Senior Administrative Law Paralegal
  • Serves as the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) Victim Witness Coordinator/Liaison on victim/witness issues.
  • Acts as the directorate's Primary Government Purchase Card (GPC) Cardholder, DTS Defense Travel Administer (DTA), and Alternate Managers Internal Control Program Administrator (MICP).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: experience with legal reference sources and precedents required to understand, evaluate, and analyze legal issues as well as prepare memoranda summarizing client interviews and legal precedents.

Experience with federal and state statutes, military, and local laws and regulations and analytical procedures as they relate to Notaries acts in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes. Experience with Microsoft Office, to establish a database, operate SharePoint and other portal-based software.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience: GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience performing a wide spectrum of paralegal responsibilities, specifically supporting Victim Witness Liaison (VWL) programs to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and providing administrative assistance to victims and witnesses throughout the litigation process; 2) Utilizing specialized software and legal knowledge to execute redactions of sensitive, classified, or PII/PHI data from legal records, discovery materials, and FOIA responses; 3) Providing notary services for official legal documents and facilitating the preparation case files to support judicial or administrative proceedings; 4) Applying legal principles, rules of evidence, and privacy regulations to vet submitted legal actions for review.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

The Army, as one of the three military departments (Army, Navy and Air Force) reporting to the Department of Defense, is composed of two distinct and equally important components: the active component and the reserve components. The reserve components are the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.
