Compensation: $25+ per hour, depending on experience

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Paralegal with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a immigration law firm setting. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about advocating for clients’ rights. This role requires someone who is adaptable, eager to learn new areas of law, and receptive to feedback from attorneys and support staff.

Position Details

Our firm focuses on family-based immigration and has a strong practice in filing writs of mandamus to help clients move their cases forward with USCIS. As a paralegal, you will work directly with clients on a variety of matters, including I-130s, I-485s, I-360 VAWA and SIJ petitions, asylum applications, special adjustment categories, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the firm’s master calendar, including USCIS interviews, immigration court hearings, and deadlines.
  • Assist clients in gathering and organizing the necessary documentation to support their cases.
  • Prepare and package filings for Immigration Court, including EOIR-42A/42B, submissions for Master Calendar Hearings, and Individual Hearings.
  • Manage a multi-line phone system and respond to client inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Draft inquiry and follow-up letters to expedite or resolve pending cases.
  • Collaborate closely with the Founding Attorney to maintain strong attorney-client relationships and assist in managing caseloads.
  • Prepare and file a wide range of petitions and applications with USCIS, such as Forms I-130, I-485, I-601, I-601A, I-212, I-821, I-918, I-360, and I-589.

 

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and another foreign language is preferred.
  • Strong legal writing and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters to clients clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong legal research skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
