Job Description:    
The paralegal in this position will assist the section and support all attorneys with research, organization, court filings, and tracking of cases in administrative, state, and federal courts; 
will assist with research and track legislation. Performs related work as required. Legal research for litigation cases and opinions. Review and manage litigation documents. Drafting documents for litigation cases and opinions. Compiles, annotates, and indexes provisions of statutes, cases, and administrative decisions. Reads and interprets state, 
federal and local codes, laws and regulations. Calendar and docket court appearances, all hearings, depositions in Legal Files and Outlook calendars. Legislative tracking. Receives and screens a variety of correspondence, telephone calls, and visitors. Other duties as assigned as related to the position’ 
 
• Tentative start date will be dependent upon interviews conducted, onboarding completed, and the state agency issuing a PO.

Knowledge of: 
•        Concepts, terminology, principles and procedures of American law 
•        Functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and related criminal 
•        justice agencies 
•        Filing requirements and legal procedure in administrative, state, and federal courts; 
•        Legal research, civil litigation 
•        Methods, techniques, and principles for writing briefs, opinions, reports and other 
•        legal documents in established formats 
 
Skill in 
•        Oral and written communications 
•        Managing a heavy workload under pressure with multiple deadlines 
•        Composing various complex legal correspondence and pleadings 
•        Grammar, punctuation, spelling, basic editing, formats of a wide variety of legal 
•        documents, rules and procedures of all Arizona State and a variety of federal courts 
•        Researching and extracting information from statutes, codes, legal documents, and 
•        court decisions 
•        Word processing 
 
Ability to: 
  • Identify issues, analyze and articulate legal arguments, and assess evidence
  • Interview and elicit information in a legal investigation
  • Write legal documents
  • Handle detailed work with accuracy and speed
  • Monitor legal requirements and deadlines
  • Exercise good judgment in making strategic decisions
  • Travel within and outside Arizona, including overnight stays
  • Respond to the public with tact, diplomacy and appropriate timely information.

Requirement:

1 year of Paralegal experience required
 
Compensation: $26.00 per hour
