Job Title: Packer Operator

Compensation: $17.50/hr.

Responsibilities
- Operate machines to prepare industrial products for storage or shipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect products, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications.
- Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standard.
- Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly.
- Stamp identification codes to finished packaged items, or cut stencils and stencil information on containers, such as lot numbers or shipping destinations.
- Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies, such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, pallets, ink, or labels.
- Package the product in the form in which it will be sent out, for example, filling bags with oxide from a chute or spout.
- Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
- Start machine by engaging controls.
- Remove finished packaged items from machine and separate rejected items.
- Count and record finished and rejected packaged items.
- Perform production duties such as manual lifting, packaging, taping, labeling operations and sorting. Move product and inventory using a forklift and bin system.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Execute and document quality inspections per SOP.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Break down cardboard for recycling. Sweep and clean work areas.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures required.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must be certified or become certified in operation of forklift.
- Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Perform basic visual quality inspections on products.
- Maintain the production pace of other team members.
- Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties.
- Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Must have a valid Driver License.
- Exposure to extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes and airborne particles in a loud work environment.
