Position: Physical Therapist Assistant-- Geriatric
Salary Range: $29-$34 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday with weekend rotation
Job Summary:
This client is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to provide quality care to our geriatric patients. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve their mobility, reduce pain, and increase overall physical function. Your main responsibility will be to assist in the implementation of treatment plans and provide support to patients during therapy sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Physical Therapist to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for geriatric patients
- Assist patients with exercises, stretches, and other therapeutic activities to improve mobility and reduce pain
- Monitor and document patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques to continue at home for continued progress
- Help patients with the use of assistive devices, such as walkers or canes, to improve their mobility and safety
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care
- Maintain a clean and organized therapy area and ensure all equipment is properly sanitized and maintained
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements and techniques in physical therapy through continuing education and training opportunities
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with geriatric patients preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to adapt to different patient needs and provide individualized care
- Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with exercises and assistive devices
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes
