Purpose

The Person in Charge (PIC) is responsible for overseeing store operations during assigned shifts and ensuring the store operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. The PIC serves as the acting leader when designated by store management and is responsible for supporting customer service, employee supervision, operational execution, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Store Leadership

  • Serve as the leader on duty during assigned shifts.
  • Support store management in executing daily operational objectives.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of store employees to ensure efficient operations.
  • Communicate company priorities and operational expectations to team members.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support to employees as needed.

Customer Service

  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided throughout the store.
  • Respond to customer concerns, complaints, and special requests in a professional manner.
  • Assist in resolving customer issues and service recovery situations.
  • Promote a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Operational Execution

  • Monitor overall store conditions, including cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and safety.
  • Ensure departments are properly staffed and operating effectively.
  • Verify completion of assigned tasks, stocking activities, and operational routines.
  • Support opening, closing, and shift transition procedures.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure a safe working and shopping environment.
  • Address safety concerns immediately and report incidents appropriately.
  • Support loss prevention efforts and security procedures.

Cash Handling & Store Security

  • Oversee cash-handling procedures and register accountability during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor safe counts, till audits, and other cash-control processes as required.
  • Ensure proper execution of opening and closing security procedures.
  • Protect company assets through adherence to operational controls.

Team Support

  • Assist department managers and supervisors in daily operations.
  • Provide direction and support to employees across multiple departments.
  • Help train new employees on operational procedures and customer service expectations.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration throughout the store.

Communication

  • Communicate important operational information to store leadership.
  • Document significant operational issues, customer concerns, and incidents.
  • Participate in shift handoff communication to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Support execution of company initiatives and store action plans.
