We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Overnight Dock Supervisor to join our team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will be the on-site leader for night shift freight operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance while coordinating with multiple teams to keep shipments moving smoothly.
**Core Responsibilities:**
- Oversee night shift operations by supervising inbound unloading, freight sorting, and outbound loading at our terminal.
- Assign and manage dock doors, trailers, and work tasks based on scheduled arrivals and departure priorities.
- Monitor productivity and accuracy by tracking trailers worked per hour, freight processed per associate, and schedule compliance.
- Enforce safety procedures, ensuring proper trailer chocking, dock plate use, forklift/pedestrian separation, and PPE compliance among team members.
- Document freight exceptions by recording shortages, overages, damages, and other issues on delivery receipts and exception reports.
- Coordinate with yard spot and operations teams, and communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers to maintain a smooth workflow.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards, ensuring the dock area is clean and safe for all personnel.
- Manage dock work schedules and time-off requests for night shift staff.
- Complete required paperwork, including shipper orders, manifests, freight bills, ITM forms, and exception reports.
- Utilize company technology systems to monitor shipment locations and communicate with associates, customers, and team members through various channels.
**Key Skills & Qualifications:**
- **Education:** High school diploma or GED; a degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is a plus.
- **Experience:** 2–5 years in dock, warehouse, or freight operations; night shift experience is preferred.
- **Certifications:** OSHA forklift/PIT, OSHA 10, HAZMAT awareness, First Aid/CPR.
- **Skills:** Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities, with the capability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
