Location: Providence Medical Center – Kansas City, KS 

 

The Outpatient Patient Account Registrar is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to patients and visitors by accurately processing outpatient registrations, verifying insurance, and providing financial counseling. This Patient Account Registrar is crucial to ensuring positive patient experiences and smooth operational flow within the healthcare setting.

**The per diem schedule consists of 2-3 days per week. Days are flexible: we are open 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Fridays 

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to): 

  • Efficiently complete patient registration and admission processes in compliance with organization policies.
  • Gather, verify, and record patient demographic and insurance information with precision.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations

  • Communicate with insurance companies to confirm patient benefits and coverage limitations.

  • Discuss payment plans, co-pays, and out-of-pocket expenses with patients.

  • Provide cost estimates for outpatient services and address any billing inquiries.

  • Deliver friendly, professional service, attending to patients' needs promptly. Handle patient inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Work closely with clinical staff to support patient care activities.

  • Coordinate with billing and financial departments to resolve account discrepancies.

Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience

  1. Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  3. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
  5. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Customer Services experience required.
  7. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
