The Outdoor and Satellite Facility Coordinator manages approximately 20 different Ohio State Outdoor Recreational Facilities (ODFM) which encompass nearly 35 acres. These facilities are located on South, North, Central, Agriculture and West Campus and include basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, roller hockey rinks, jogging path, baseball/softball fields, multipurpose infill turf field, picnic shelters, children's playground, fitness stations, tennis courts, batter ball wall courts, flag football/field hockey/lacrosse/rugby/soccer fields, Coffey Road Recreation Complex, Fred Beekman Park, Lincoln Tower Park and The Women's Field House at The OSU Columbus Campus.
Direct reports will include supervision of one graduate administrative associate (GAA) and approximately 50 undergraduate student staff (facility coordinators, facility managers and facility assistants).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership, coaching and promotes good work habits; oversees recruitment, interviewing and hiring of approximately 45-50 student employees and GAA for outdoor facilities; coordinates initial and on the job employee training; coordinates orientation and in service meetings; emphasizes customer service and consistent application of the policies and rules; supervises bi-weekly payroll and special event personnel payment; coordinates payroll with business manager; monitor the performance of employees; provides coaching and corrective action if necessary; coordinates student recognition reward program; coordinates annual review of employee training manual; prepares and maintains student employee personnel files on all current and past employees.
- Helps coordinate construction, renovation, and special projects for ODFM and ARC; develops and maintains list of construction and renovation projects in conjunction with Associate Director, Assistant Director, Superintendent of Recreational Sports Grounds, ODFM facility managers, and student user groups; develops spreadsheets illustrating priority, cost, vendors, deadline date, and progress for each project; works with Facilities Operation and Development (FOD) and outside vendors/contractors to determine costs/quotes; creates purchase requests; and reviews ordered materials; attends job construction meetings; makes progress reports to appropriate personnel; conducts construction observation of on-going projects; coordinates punch out and final payment of projects.
- Contributes to a safe, clean environment for all facility users and employees; monitors daily facility schedule for accuracy and report discrepancies to scheduling director; oversees monitoring of weather and field conditions and cancel, postpone, delay and alter events as needed; maintains daily contact with FOD Recreational Sports grounds superintendent and staff to plan and coordinate daily, weekly, semester and yearly events, maintenance tasks, renovation projects, etc.; makes arrangements for the outdoor recreational facilities to be prepared for all events and daily open schedule; discusses current maintenance/renovation/special project needs with members, ODFM/ARC employees, professional staff, users and create ongoing project lists for ODFM/ARC; organizes ODFM/ARC focus groups; makes weekly rounds to ARC and all ODFM facilities; checks safety, security, maintenance, and custodial items and follows up on appropriate items; reviews all ODFM/ARC facility managers reports and checklists; meets with Student Life or and/or departmental risk management officers as needed; oversees constant revision of Facility Policies; prepares and update ODFM/ARC equipment inventory, lighting diagrams, field painting diagrams; coordinates environmental services needs for all outdoor facilities including daily needs and special projects; develops recommendations regarding purchase of new equipment, paint, picnic, hardware, etc.
- Oversees planning of all outdoor facility special events; conducts pre-event MOU conversation and completes appropriate paperwork; coordinates pre-event set-up and post-event tear down; coordinates scheduling of staff for all special events; revises and updates ODFM/ARC MOU for special events each semester; conducts post-event evaluation forms; supervises special events.
- Picks up loose trash around facility; promotes department mission and vision; abides by Student Life Climate of mutual
respect; establishes and maintains regular office hours, completes annual budget submission request, attends recurring staff
meetings as scheduled; other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of relevant experience required.
- 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 1-year full time or 2 years GAA in recreational facility or similar field desired.
- Master's degree in related field.
