Mountain Ltd. has an opening for an OSP Engineer in the Spokane, WA Area!

Since 1979, Mountain Ltd has successfully created and supported turnkey engineering solutions for traditional and wireless telecom providers across the United States. We are a national leader in the industry, providing high-quality engineering, on-time service delivery, and skilled personnel paired with innovative technology and creative solutions. Specialties include OSP/ISP engineering, design, permitting, right-of-way and CAD for traditional and wireless telecommunications companies.

About the Role

Make a direct impact on critical telecom infrastructure across the Eastern WA Region! We are seeking an experienced OSP Engineer II who thrives in the field, enjoys solving complex challenges, and delivers precise, high-quality engineering data. In this role, you will support major telecom clients on high-visibility projects—designing, auditing, and verifying outside plant networks both aerial and underground.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field site walks, audits, and inspections to support fiber, aerial, and underground network design.

  • Create and/or review outside plant infrastructure designs—pole lines, fiber networks, conduit structures, buried cables, splice points, etc.

  • Collect accurate field data (measurements, GIS/CAD mapping, clearance, pole loading, make-ready) to inform design packages.

  • Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including plans, permit packages, design drawings/reports, as-builts, and construction readiness packages.

  • Support cost estimation, budgeting, and forecast tracking for projects; compare projected vs actual costs.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, local building and utility codes, National Electric Safety Code (NESC), industry best practices, and client standards.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and contractors; provide updates; ensure smooth hand-offs and resolve field challenges.

  • Maintain QA/QC on field data and designs; validate that as-built work matches plans.

  • Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in telecom outside plant engineering (field and design).

  • Strong knowledge of pole line assessments, make-ready processes, conduit and buried network design, aerial fiber deployment.

  • Demonstrated experience in field data collection processes; familiarity with using survey tools, GPS/GIS, and/or mobile data collection technologies.

  • Experience with preparing permit applications and working with municipal/utility authorities.

  • Sound understanding of safety codes and standards — including NESC, local jurisdiction code, and utility company guidelines.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong attention to detail, and organizational/time-management ability.

  • Ability to travel regionally, work independently in field settings, and adapt to changing environments/schedules.

Technical Skills (Preferred but not Required)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software.

  • Experience with GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI, QGIS) or data mapping tools.

  • Familiarity with fiber design software/tools (e.g., IKE, Plume, Bentley, OTDR).

  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of aerial vs underground design trade-offs, pole loading analysis, cable pulling, splice enclosure design, road-move design.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and certifications.

  • Collaborative, safety-conscious work environment.

  • Impactful work—your designs and audits directly shape the connectivity infrastructure.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with a cover letter describing your experience on OSP field projects, specific design work, and any relevant software tools or certifications you hold.

Pay $28/hr. Will consider training for candidates with telecom outside plant experience.

About the Company

M

Mountain Ltd.

OUR STORY

In 1979, Joseph Hosmer, with a camera strapped to his shoulder and a love for exploration, had a vision to create relationships with people all over the world. This adventurous spirit, paired with his knowledge of telephony, led Joe to start MOUNTAIN, LTD. MOUNTAIN’s humble beginnings started all the way across the ocean in Western Africa, working to develop landmark telecommunications projects in remote locations. MOUNTAIN worked to innovate communication technology within the country where there were no resources. These challenges were trying, but the results were fruitful and enriched many lives. Today, MOUNTAIN works in almost every state, offering the same dedication as it did all those years ago.

A lot has changed since then, but the vision and mission remain the same: offer the best opportunities to people and deliver outstanding service to businesses in the telecom industry. With 40 years of experience under our belt, we are at the forefront of telecommunications, whether it be traditional OSP/ISP engineering, cutting-edge wireless technology, or old-fashioned pole and line work.
