Description
Under general supervision, the Organizational Development Technician performs a variety of responsible paraprofessional, technical, confidential, and office administrative functions in support of the Port's Organizational Development workgroup which reports to Human Resources. They plan, coordinate, administer and participate in training and development related activities, provide information to Port staff via phone, email, and in person related to OD programs and processes and performs related duties as assigned.
The Organizational Development Technician assists with management of digital learning content, compliance training, reporting, and analytics, ensuring that learning initiatives are efficient, effective, and aligned with organizational priorities.
This position plays a key role in strengthening organizational capability by coordinating and facilitating New Hire Orientation, leading Port 101, Managing Compliance training and supporting the development and delivery of workforce learning opportunities that promote growth, engagement, and a culture of continuous learning. Working under the direction of the Organizational Development Manager, this position collaborates with Human Resources, Information Technology, Safety and other Department leaders to design high-quality learning experiences that support Port values, compliance and strategic goals.
Hiring Range Negotiable Between: $56,709 - $72,000 DOQ/DOE*
This position will work occasional Saturdays to assist the department with recruitment events.
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, performs a variety of responsible paraprofessional, technical, confidential, and office administrative functions in support of the Port's Human Resources Department; plans, coordinates, administers, and participates in recruitment and selection processes; conducts employee benefit orientations and oversees the preparation and processing of payroll and benefit transactions; provides information to Port staff and the general public over the phone, in person, or via email related to Human Resources processes, programs, policies, and procedures; and performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This journey-level classification is responsible for independently performing technical duties in support of the Human Resources Department. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

Placement on Eligible List:
The Department of Human Resources may limit the number of qualified applicants eligible to participate in the assessment process. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle and visit various Port sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 10 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing divisional policies and procedures.
