Job Summary:

The Order Selector Supervisor manages the daily workflow of Order Selectors. Ensures Order Selectors maintain high picking accuracy while achieving established benchmarks and meeting throughput rates within the distribution center. Also, responsible for order fulfillment, fill rate, production, accuracy, safety, and return to the stock program.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising order selector staff, training, production, 5S Principles, on-time shipments, picking accuracy, and the return-to-stock program.
  • Manage and implement all facets of process controls for picking operations. Establishing picking zones, improving pick rates, order processing, value-added services, and safety of work group.
  • Manage all picking staff's performance, including counseling, periodic job review discussions, and formal bi-annual performance reviews.
  • Operational reporting includes work order scheduling, picking productivity, planning, staffing, throughput, and inventory accuracy.
  • Daily communication with other supervisors, managers, senior managers, and other departments to improve customer service.
  • Budget and labor cost control.
  • Monitor and review picking discrepancies to increase accuracy.
  • Perform root cause analysis when inventory discrepancies arise. Set clear expectations for employees.
  • Hold people accountable to performance standards.

Job Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Two to four years of experience in a warehouse environment, order fulfillment, leadership, and work order processing.
  • Excellent leadership by example and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an understanding of performance metrics.
  • Oversight of the work order program.
  • Experience in velocity reporting and product slotting.
  • Ability to communicate both professionally and confidently.
  • Ability to create professional memos, letters, e-mails, and reports.
  • Must be able to think and make solid business decisions.
  • Maintain stable performance and poise in high-stress situations.
  • Must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and create solutions to problems.
  • Must be able to understand and absorb new information quickly.
  • Understand and be willing to create change.
  • Requires minimal direction.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and WMS systems. Familiarity with AS400 is a plus.
  • Able to work flexible/extended hours, including weekends as required

Education:

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment:

  • Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning.
  • The temperature of the work environment, when in the office, is moderate.
  • The temperature of the work environment in the warehouse may equal to the outside temperatures of the area.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently lift from overhead or below the waist
  • Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, kneel
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Continuously sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and key (i.e., computer, calculator, telephone).

Machines, Tools and Equipment

  • Frequently use copier, fax, and 10-key calculator
  • Continuously use writing instruments, computer and telephone
  • Continuously use Standup reach, propane sit-down, and picking lift forklifts
