Overview:
Maimonides is currently seeking an Operating Room Attendant to assist nursing personnel in the care of surgical patients and assist with the preservation of an aseptic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Transport pre- and post-operative patients to/from the Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
- Prepare and assist with the transfer of patients to/from the Operating Room Table/Stretcher, and assist with the positioning of patients for the surgical procedure/introduction of spinal anesthesia.
- Assist Operating Room Nursing Staff with post-mortem care.
- Hold extremities during the preparation/draping process of the surgical procedure.
- Prepare the identified surgical site and the appropriate surrounding area.
- Bring equipment to/from the storage area to/from rooms as requested.
- Handle instrument tray delivery/returns and take specimens to the Laboratory and Blood Bank, in the absence of primary personnel (observing infection control protocol).
- Clean Operating Room Suite between cases, dispose of trash/laundry in appropriate hold containers.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 6 months to one (1) year of experience as a nurse’s aide preferred.
- Good communication & interpersonal skills.
Pay Range:
USD $26.88 - USD $27.41 /Hr.
