Summary:
Ancillary member of surgical team who provides direct and indirect patient care and support. Takes initiative in ordering and re-stocking supplies, caring and handling of instruments and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Transports patients, assists with holding area functions.
- Assists nursing staff with room turnover and setup as delegated by licensed and certified staff.
- Obtains necessary equipment, positioning aides, furniture, and supplies for next case.
- Follows proper universal infection control techniques.
- Performs morning, daily, and weekly routines for cleaning of lights, autoclaves, room furniture, staff areas, outdating of supplies and equipment.
- Participates in quality management programs as assigned.
- Adjust work priorities to accommodate cancellations and urgent/emergent cases.
- Returns supplies and equipment to appropriate storage spaces.
- Performs between cases cleanups.
- Maintains and restocks solution carts, plaster cart, sub sterile areas, linen, special orders, and areas assigned.
- Communicates courteously with Central Supply, Sterile Processing, and ancillary departments to obtain necessary supplies in a timely manner.
- Takes call as assigned.
- Asks questions and seeks new experiences to better understand department.
Requirements:
Education/Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- One-year experience in an acute care hospital setting or health care environment preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- BLS certification is required within six months of hire.
In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
