Description
The OPS Figure Model serves as a temporary instructional support employee who provides visual references for students enrolled in studio art courses. Under the direction of the faculty member, the Figure Model poses for drawing, painting, sculpture, and other visual arts classes to assist students in developing observational, anatomical, and artistic skills. This position is an hourly, non-benefited OPS assignment with work scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Essential Functions/Duties
- Pose for studio art classes in clothed, draped, or nude sessions as determined by course objectives and communicated in advance.
- Hold a variety of gestures, standing, seated, and reclining poses for periods specified by the instructor, with scheduled breaks as appropriate.
- Follow faculty direction regarding pose selection, duration, and positioning to meet instructional goals.
- Maintain professionalism and appropriate conduct while working in the classroom and studio environment.
- Report to assignments on time and prepared to perform scheduled duties.
- Work effectively with faculty, staff, and students to support a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Complete required employment documentation and accurately record hours worked.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the position.
OPS Worker positions earn an hourly rate of $15.00 per hour.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to maintain stationary poses for extended periods.
- Physical flexibility and body awareness sufficient to assume a range of artistic poses safely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students.
- Dependability and the ability to adapt to varying instructional needs and schedules.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in the classroom.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain poses for varying lengths of time and perform repetitive physical positioning.
- Ability to work respectfully in an educational environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, recline, bend, and maintain static positions for extended periods.
- Ability to transition safely between poses throughout instructional sessions.
- Sufficient stamina to support multiple posing sessions during a scheduled shift.
Work Environment
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Work is performed in an art studio or classroom setting under faculty supervision.
- Assignments may include clothed, costumed, draped, or nude modeling, depending on instructional needs and with prior notice.
- The position requires interaction with faculty and enrolled students in a professional academic environment.
- Hours are variable and based on course schedules and departmental needs, which may include daytime, evening, or weekend assignments.
Required Education:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience as a figure model for artists or educational institutions.
- Experience in visual arts, theater, or related performance disciplines.
- Familiarity with studio classroom settings.
Part-time employees are allowed to work a maximum of 25 hours per week.
